SkiingThe Black River State Forest has 25 miles of the finest cross-country ski trails in Wisconsin. The trails are groomed for skaters and traditional skiers and provide a variety of skill levels, from beginner to expert. Forested, hilly terrain offering splendid scenic views combine with stretches of level landscape. Jackson County's Wazee Park now provides 11 miles of ungroomed cross-country ski trails, just east of Black River Falls. The trails give the skier a beautiful view of Wazee Lake. Wazee Park has 11 miles of ungroomed trails, which offer a view of Wazee Lake. Perrot State Park has nine miles of groomed trails. Mount La Crosse offers downhill skiing with 18 downhill slopes and snowboarding. Bruce Mound-Merrillan offers downhill skiing, snow tubing and T-Bars. Located 3 miles northwest of Hatfield. Lunda Community Park in Black River Falls offers snow tubing, sledding, a skate pond, warming building & refreshments. Winter adventure awaits you in Black River Country. Cross-country ski or snowshoe the Black River State Forest and Jackson County Forest. Snowmobilers can ride 300 miles of well-groomed trails. And Black River Country offers hundreds of miles of top-notch ATV trails. Anglers will find excellent ice fishing on Lake Arbutus and the Black River. And Wazee Lake offers scuba diving beneath the ice. Explore underwater forests and Wazee Lake’s own shipwreck!
