From river-view dining to seafood specialities to excellent supper club eating, there are many local dining choices within 30 miles of Brambleberry Bed and Breakfast. We are more than happy to help direct you, make reservations or offer our opinion on where to eat, but here are some of the local restaurants where we have eaten ourselves and would not hesitate to send guests. If you'd like to grab some food and eat at our B&B or for a picnic lunch along our hiking trail, there are Subway restaurants in Black River Falls and Galesville, along with delis at Burnstad's grocery store in Black River Falls and Piggly Wiggly in Galesville. La CrosseThere are many restaurants in La Crosse and Onalaska, with your typical chain establishments, mainly in the Valley View Mall area. Here are a few unique places. MarshlandHillside Fish HouseThe Hillside Fish House was established in 1855 as a railroad junction hotel. People would stop in at the hotel/restaurant with their horse drawn wagons to sleep, dine, or to warm their foot bricks in the fire. Many Indians living in the area (now known as Trempealeau National Wildlife Sanctuary and Trempealeau Mountain) would trade and sell their fresh fish. This fresh fish was prepared and served to the customers. The Hillside Fish House has remained a local dining favorite. TrempealeauTrempealeau HotelOne of the few buildings to survive Trempealeau's 1888 fire, the Hotel retains its classic charm, while still offering modern style.
