Wisconsin Travel Best Bets

Guests are definitely not roughing it at this English/Scottish manor house with its beautiful furnishings and tasteful interior decorating.
Travel Wisconsin
Borrow a guidebook from this English-inspired inn and stroll through the three miles of private trails that wind across fields of wildflowers, through groves of wild apple trees and past scenic bluff tops.

Sherry Hardie, who operates the inn with husband Chris, is an Anglophile, fascinated with all things British since seeing the movie "Pride and Prejudice." Many of her recipes reflect this devotion.

Take a video tour of Brambleberry

Brambleberry has been named one of the state's best eco-elegant inns by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. Wisconsin's most affordable, romantic country weekend getaway is a one-of-a-kind destination in itself. Our romantic English/Scottish country manor inspired home provides couples with a blissfully comfortable, intimate, sanctuary retreat in which to relax and reconnect. A whole other world away, Brambleberry has all the ambiance of a farm in the English countryside, complete with the pastoral view of grazing sheep and Scottish Highland cattle.
It's the perfect place for that special anniversary, short vacation or a wedding night. We accept bookings for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The B&B is closed Monday through Thursday. Multiple day stays are highly recommended in order to fully enjoy the inn and all the area has to offer.

Our affordable rates range from $89 to $159, depending on room amenities. Whether you're looking for an inexpensive clean room with comfortable bed or an intimate, romantic retreat with double whirlpool, fireplace, luxurious canopy bed, satellite TV, DVD player and movies, we've got it.
All our guests enjoy walking our private trails, visiting our gardens, Scottish Highland cattle, sheep, perusing our book and video library, munching on buttery Scottish shortbread and sipping our homemade country wines. Our special home-cooked, full-candlelight breakfast -- which always includes at least one item grown or produced here on the farm -- is the highlight of an enjoyable stay.

Brambleberry's dining room

B&B guests can even make arrangements to have dinner at the inn. Brambleberry is one of only two Wisconsin B&Bs that offers dinner to guests. Our special Saturday night multi-course dinners are served year round. Friday is pizza night and Sunday is pasta night.
We're the first and only B&B in the state that offers special harvest dinners and harvest feasts mid-July through October. These special dinners feature our own homegrown produce from our organic kitchen gardens. About 80 to 90 percent of the meal is grown on site, the remainder sourced locally. The dining room is not open to the general public.
During the growing season, Brambleberry serves more organic produce grown on site than any other B&B in the state. Guests who want to can literally be "in touch" with their food source. Separate reservations for the scheduled Saturday night 7 o'clock dinner need to be made at least 48 hours in advance if you wish to participate. Check out our dinner page for the menu schedule.

Centrally located between the Wisconsin cities of La Crosse, Black River Falls, Trempealeau and Sparta, area attractions abound. It's an easy drive to antiques, Brambleberry Bed and Breakfast neighbors Amish farmsAmish farms, Arcadia Memorial Park, Tenba Ridge winery, restaurants, breweries, museums, golf, state parks, snorkeling and scuba diving, canoeing and kayaking, Mississippi River boat tours, public hunting, ATV trails, the Cranberry Discovery Center in Warrens, beaches at lakes Wazee and Arbutus and shopping in La Crosse. Enjoy nearly 500 miles of bike trails, featuring Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail, Great River Trail, Trempealeau County bike loop, and scenic motorcycle routes. In the winter enjoy nearby snowmobile trails, skiing or snowshoeing at the inn. We're located right in the center of the Great River Road Wine Trail. There's so much to do!

Brambleberry house takes its name from our numerous blackberry plants, Brambleberry Bed and Breakfast is named after blackberries which grow on our farm called brambleberries in Scotland. We're one of the few Wisconsin bed and breakfasts that sits on extensive rural acreage. Our tranquil 80-acre estate is part of a 600-acre working family farm. We're surrounded by fields, woods, pastures, streams and gardens. Ideally located at the end of a beautiful, peaceful valley, we're about 16 miles west of Black River Falls, Wisconsin and 33 miles north of La Crosse, Wisconsin shopping and restaurants, two hours from the Twin Cities and Madison areas, just over an hour from Eau Claire, less than 90 minutes from Rochester, MN. We're only 15 miles from I-94 and 27 miles from I-90. We're a short distance from the Great River Road. Just turn at Galesville.

Brambleberry's English Country Room

Brambleberry is the area's premier romantic destination but we welcome other guests, including reunion groups, girlfriend getaway groups, and local wedding and funeral guests. We do not accept children under age 14. Guests 14 to 17 must be accompanied by a guardian. Guest areas of the B&B are pet-free, but we have a yellow lab in our private quarters and outside. We don't accept guest's pets. We recommend boarding your pet at K-9 Country Lodge. Check-in 4 to 6 p.m. Later check-ins can be arranged. Check out is 11 a.m.
