Dear WBBA guests:
We want it to be made perfectly clear that CertifiChecks has swindled us as well as you. The WBBA and its member inns have not received any of the funds for the unredeemed certificates. We have done nothing wrong or unethical and our organization bears none of the legal liability in this unfortunate situation.
So ... are we stupid to be cleaning up CertifiCheck's mess? Quite possibly! You know what they say ... "No good deed ever goes unpunished."
But seriously, our fellow innkeepers and we are trying to make the best of a bad situation by meeting guests halfway. We do so voluntarily and genuinely out of the goodness of our hearts, with the intent of fostering good will. So please don't complain to any of us about our terms or blame those of us who have ventured to make this generous gesture. Yes, we fully realize you may be redeeming gift certificates at a loss. So are we. Another option is to try to get your money back from CertifiChecks on your own.
By agreeing to accept Certifichecks (we won't be getting reimbursed for them) we are letting guests stay with us at our own expense or slightly above our operating costs. We will be making a profit of next to nothing on most stays.
In order for us to remain financially viable, we must keep our weekends open for guests who will be paying us full price. That leaves plenty of weekdays for people to stay with us this spring and summer.
We are extending this offer in good faith and with the hope of making Brambleberry B &B better known. It's truly a special place and we love what we do. We know once guests have stayed here they'll want to return again and again. And we hope they'll spread the word.
Best regards, Chris and Sherry |
